Modern Warfare 3 has just been confirmed for the Nintendo DS. Activision has signed a new agreement with popular DS developer, n-Space, who previously ported other Call of Duty games to the mobile gaming platform. n-Space is US-based video games developer and it already ported Call of Duty Modern Warfare, COD World at War, and COD Black Ops to the Nintendo DS.

The developer has also confirmed that the Nintendo 3DS will not get a version of Modern Warfare 3, despite the demand and outcry of the users. Users would have hoped that the new and more powerful Nintendo portable gaming console will get MW3 this fall, but this simply won’t be the case, said n-Space.

A spokesperson for the company said that n-Space can’t simply choose what games to port because they’re a small developer firm. n-Space makes the games it’s paid for and it doesn’t have a choice, explained an official of the firm. He added that users shouldn’t complain to n-Space for the lack of Nintendo 3DS support as they don’t choose the platforms and the games therefore they should take this outcry to Activision.

There’s no doubt that Activision is thinking about porting the game to the Nintendo 3DS, but the problem is that the console didn’t sell too well so the publisher needs to consider its options and if it will be worthwhile to port the game.

n-Space said that all of its employees love the Nintendo 3DS platform as the company is already developing three titles for the handheld.

The name of the Nintendo DS port for MW3 is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3: Defiance. For the folks who don’t know, the previous Modern Warfare 2 port for the Nintendo DS which was also developed by n-Space was called COD: Modern Warfare 3: Mobilized and it was a side story to the original MW2 plot.

This means that MW3: Defiance will also be a side story to the action in Modern Warfare 3 and we wouldn’t be too surprised if the story will pick up where it left off. The story in Modern Warfare 2: Mobilized was like a companion narrative, said n-Space.

Well, the more, the merrier. Modern Warfare 3 will also be available on the Nintendo Wii and it will be developed by Black Ops creator, Treyarch, who also ported Modern Warfare to the platform. The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 release date is November 8th in the US.
